Ok so it's Highways England. There is a stretch of the A12 near the Weston Homes stadium exit where there's lots of trees in the central reservation.

I bet you love Stothall Farm on the M62 (https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/motorway-farm-stotts-hill-yorkshire-wildlife-haven-a8037261.html).

Hasn’t been the Highways Agency since 2015 by the way...

Re: Trees growing in the central reservation of A roads/ motorways
Four or five years ago I rode my motorbike to Holland for the first BSB race there with 4 mates from England. On the way back through Belgium it was pissing down and blowing a gale.

Trees either side of the motorway were blowing around and suddenly a branch crashed across the 3 lanes while in traffic doing about 80mph in the streaming wet. I couldn't stop so had no alternative but to ride over the branch. It was several inches thick where I went over it but much thicker and I'd have been toast.

Trees and motorways are not good together....

The esplanade that is Northwood Hills, the town planners in their wisdom decided to create this masterpiece on one of the busiest roads in the area.So going from a wide road to create diagonal parking on either side and a central reservation of trees for 250 yards.
Result much slower traffic in particular women trying to park Chelsea tractors but more worrying emergency vehicles can't get through the traffic.
Well done Hillingdon Council

Yes, they would do like just any other tree by the roadside.

Sometimes you'll see a pink/yellow dot sprayed on them which means work normally has to be done on them.

HEALTH & SAFETY, init.

They're not trees, they're Marc Bolan Memorial Car Parks - a new franchise, apparently.
